Microsoft announce APP-V availability for Windows 7 (BETA) and future release of APP-V version 4.6

02/28/2009

Hi all,

Microsoft MDOP Team has released two important update about Windows 7 and APP-V.

The first I think that will be availability of Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) for use with the Windows 7 Beta and the second is announce of roadmap information around App-V 4.6.

The most important update about App-V 4.6 when released will be available to all existing MDOP customers and provide new key features including 64-bit platform support. Microsoft announces that from “Microsoft Connect” it will be possible to download a new version in Q1 of 2009.

The APP-V flexibility allows you to easily manage your applications, dramatically reduce your application testing costs, and deploy applications to your business faster.

Fix for problem of the replica in DNS service with Windows Server 2008

02/17/2009

I want to report a fix, issued by Microsoft about the DNS service in Windows Server 2008.

This hotfix 953317 has been released to solve a problem recently discovered in the DNS service. The problem is a replica failure of the DNS which occurs when take place in the DNS server primary A high number of changes that activate a full transfer of the area to other DNS servers, that instead they expect a transfer only incremental.

The problem occurs when the DNS is not integrated in Active Directory. IN THIS CASE IN FACT THE REPLica TO synchronized server shall maintain the DNS between the different DNS server.

Therefore, if you are using Windows 2008 server as a DNS server, not use the replica if not integrated, PLEASE READ THESE ARTICLES AND, IN THE CASE IN WHICH problems with the DNS, install the fix that Microsoft has been released:

Headache Prevention: Install Hotfix 953317 to Prevent DNS Records from Disappearing

A primary DNS zone file may not transfer to the secondary DNS servers in Windows Server 2008.
